Background
Born and bred in South Africa on 9 November 1999, Protech Training (PTT) has been successful in addressing the needs of artisan training and technical skills needed in South Africa. The participation of business, communities, industry, government and sponsors is continuously sought to ensure a holistic training approach that will not only train incumbents, but will also lead to employment.
During 2002/3 Protech Training completed a technical skills program for the Sasol -Temane Pande natural gas project in rural Vilankulos (Mozambique) where Protech Training successfully mobilized trainers, equipment and tools to an area that had no infrastructure, supplies or skills. In a period of one year, 600 learners were trained. Sasol employed all students.
During 2004 Protech Training trained 136 learners and created five incubator centers for the National Skills Fund project "Shintsha" The objective of the project was to train and create small enterprises that focused on manufacturing cost effective space saving furniture and selling the products at a profit. The program was extremely successful and widely recognized by Government and business as a benchmark project for future development in SA.
Accreditation for products was obtained from the ESETA in 2005 followed by accreditation from the CETA and the FIETA. Skills courses for the Department of Labour were developed and presented in various venues throughout South Africa.
Protech Training believes that training is critical in equipping a skilled workforce that can contribute to the economy. Training also provides a solution in creating business opportunities amongst the youth, even in rural areas. Going green is the answer to new job opportunities such as solar wind power and recycling. Skills programs like electrical house wiring, welding, appliance repair, handyman, and new business venture creation forms part of individual development of students to start small service delivery businesses.
Our training venues, systems and procedures are accredited by the ESETA and the CETA which ensures national recognition under the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Protech Training increases its customer base continuously and are supported by clients such as Growthpoint, Eskom, Southern Sun, the SA Government and a host of smaller companies and individuals.
Our core principles are:
- Recognized quality
- Customized training
